Who?
My name is Aaron. I’m many things, but most notably I’m a mathematician. You can see my homepage here.
What?
This Substack is dedicated to explorations of love, truth, and beauty. I intend to write about: mathematics; AI; meditation; running; piano; dance; romance and intimacy; Burning Man; emotional processing; et surely alia.
As of now (mid-2025), this Substack primarily functions as the home of my memoir On Life and Math. I released it in weekly installments, which you can read beginning with the preface here.

I view my writing practice primarily as a gift to myself. In particular, I don’t have any specific intentions or expectations to make money from it. On the other hand, I am certainly grateful for financial contributions, if it would feel good for you to make one. However, please know that a heartfelt note will contribute to my enthusiasm for writing at least as much.
The Substack platform offers the option to monetize via paid subscriptions. I’m scared to activate these: I imagine feeling pressure to post on a regular schedule, and good writing — indeed, good art — takes time. So for now, I’ve left that setting off. I’m not sure what conditions would cause me to activate them, but if enough people signal their interest in supporting me in this way, I’d certainly consider stepping more fully into my practice as a writer.
